    We have just finished a superb week-long work experience with HS2 that included experiencing rail travel (some learners for the very first time) a tour of New Street Station, a visit to HS2 offices, and finding out about the huge range of jobs available.

  • Deaf Explorer Dancers.

    On Friday 1st July we welcomed the Deaf Explorer dancers to our school. The group led a variety of sessions that culminated in a showcase for learners and staff.

  • Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

    Congratulations to those learners who successfully completed their Bronze qualifying expedition on Cannock Chase. All participants showed fantastic teamwork and resilience as they navigated their way over Cannock chase for two days, camping overnight.

    Recently some of our pupils were able to interview David Buxton, the Chair of the BDA, via zoom.

    The children asked interesting questions and Mr Buxton was impressed with their views.

  • West Midlands Fire Service

    The Deaf Team from West Midlands Fire Service came to school to talk to some of our young people about alarms and fire safety. Did you know that they will visit any home and assess the risks and install a free fire alarm? Get your visit booked now! There is also a new nationwide BSL relay app being launched on June 17th which is an easy way to make a 999 call through BSL. Pupils asked a range of interesting questions and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

  • Automobile association visit

    Sean Sidley, the AA Patrol of the year and Shaun Baugh, the AA Recovery Patrol of the year visited our school on Tuesday to show us their vehicles and explain about their jobs. Our pupils got to see inside the van and how to change a tyre. They also got to see how cars are attached to the van and motorbikes are put on the lorry. All the pupils got to sit in the cab of the lorry.

    Once again a visit from the Problem Solving Company gave our year 7 and 8 learners a chance to practice their maths skills.  Our students enjoyed the challenge of the "Escape Box" along with many other mathematical and reasoning problems set during the day.

    We took our Young Employment Ambassadors to deliver a short session on BSL with a message that, with small reasonable adjustments, we can all contribute to success in the workplace. We are so proud of our learners. They are all talented young adults with superb communication skills.
