What is Labour Market Information (LMI)?

LMI is information about the world of work. It includes information such as descriptions of jobs, the skills and qualifications needed for particular jobs and average salaries. LMI also looks at trends in the labour market in terms of which sectors and industries are in demand, which are in decline and which are expected to grow in future.

Labour market information is important as it tells you;

  • What jobs and skills employers are looking for
  • Which industries have vacancies and where they are
  • What education and training you need for a specific job
  • Which job areas are growing in the future, which are in decline and other statistics in their career choices and decisions.

All students and parents should have access to high-quality information about future study options and labour market opportunities.

By the age of 14, all students at Braidwood School will have accessed and used information about career paths and the labour market to help inform their own decisions on study options and KS4 study choices.

We encourage families to access and use Labour Market information (LMI) to support their children in making choices about their futures.
