Braidwood Pupils raised £470 towards a new minibus for Priestley Smith

On Friday 1st May pupils from Priestley Smith School Specialist School for the visually impaired visited Braidwood to be presented with a cheque for £470 raised by Braidwood staff and pupils. Our pupils raised money by wearing non-uniform, baking and selling cakes and organising a chocolate tombola.

Staff and pupils from Priestley Smith were really happy with the money raised which they have put towards buying a new mini bus; something that will enable their pupils to have even more adventures and enjoy more new experiences.

As part of the morning, Priestley Smith pupils had a tour of our school - finding out about our school and meeting some of our pupils. This was a great opportunity for pupils to learn from each other about visual and hearing impairments. Indeed, some of our pupils were involved in a group session about hearing technology where they shared their experiences as a Deaf young person.

We hope that our links with Priestley Smith School will continue as all of the children really enjoyed the visit and benefitted from the experience. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for their support and their donations to the chocolate tombola.
