Choosing a College: School Leavers

At Braidwood School we are committed to ensuring that all our students are fully prepared to make well-informed decisions about their future career progression, employment, training or further education.

In Year 11, our students have 1-to-1 interviews with our Independent Careers Advisor, Sue Gough, to discuss their options and choices post 16. Learners may decide to stay at school in our Sixth Form, go to college, seek employment or engage in an apprenticeship or traineeship programme. All of these options are explained fully and discussed as to their suitablility for each learner. Parents are also invited to these interviews. Following the 1-to-1 interviews a Career Plan is created for each student outlining their choices and the next steps to be taken. A copy of the Career Plan is given to the student, to parents and to tutors. Students who opt to stay for the Sixth Form will have their Career Plan created while they are in Year 12/13.

Depending on the choices made, staff at Braidwood School support each student through the application and interview processes involved.

Below are the details of the colleges that are available to our students along with contact details, email and website addresses and a link to the prospectus for each college. We recommend that students involve parents in choosing a college and the courses they would like to follow.

If you require any further support in any aspect of student choices, please contact the school and arrange an appointment with our Independent Careers Advisor, Sue Gough
