We believe that for learners to have the best Carers Education possible it is necessary to engage all the stakeholders in this process: Learners, Staff, Parents and Employers. This way, the advice and guidance our learners receive will be up-to-date, wide-ranging and accurate.

Therefore, it is important to provide information for all stakeholders.

Careers Displays in Classrooms

We have displays in classrooms explaining how each subject links to careers (GB4)

Careers Library

We do have a growing Careers Library in school that is used by learners and staff. It contains information on local colleges and training providers, fact sheets on jobs and different sectors, books explaining how subjects can lead on to careers, and lots more. In 2022 we are planning to start a drop in Careers Club for our learners.

Our learners all have access, on their iPads, to the Job Explorer Database (JED)

Careersoft’s Job Explorer Database (Jed) makes careers information understandable, interesting, and engaging. It has information on 856 jobs (over 2500 career titles) presented in a clear and lively way that learners of all abilities can understand. Parents can use their child's iPad to access JED too.

Careers education and guidance is interesting when it taps into the user's natural sense of curiosity. Jed has a 'get clicking' attitude with lots of pathways through the program, including over 340 high quality video case studies, pictures, quizzes, 'top tens', career facts of the day, and text. Jed's quizzes take minutes to do, not hours, so that users can get on with exploring careers and thinking about what will and won't suit them.

In Year 9, learners are taught how to use JED to investigate careers they are interested in. The resources for this are attached at the bottom of this page.
